A kuratórium nyitott a tagságon kívülről érkező önkéntes kezdeményezésekre is.
Fontosnak tartjuk továbbá, hogy magyar és külföldi társszervezettekkel, társművészekkel szoros együttműködésben jöjjenek létre közös programok. Ezzel szeretnénk segíteni a csoportosulásokon, diszciplínákon és határokon átívelő párbeszédek létrejöttét"

“Lumen Photography Foundation was established in 2002 with the objective of edifying the visual culture by spreading and supporting the work of contemporary young artists who use photography and video as their medium.
We consider it especially important that our projects be presented to a wide audience (public projects, Lumen Gallery), to elicit the active interest of the receptive public. The exhibitions and events in Lumen are generally founded on intelligible social, historical or political issues of common interest, and scarcely on pure aesthetics - as we consider photography the most effective media in documenting and exploring our times.
That is why our organization is project-based, adopting a common operational structure, with a board of curators. We are open for external, conceptual initiatives and cooperation and try to represent the diverse path of contemporary art and culture.
We consider it important to organize collaborative projects with Hungarian and international artists and organizations in order to facilitate the realization of dialogues across projects, groups, disciplines and frontiers.”
About Lumen Gallery
Since January 2008, Lumen Gallery, Lumen Photography Foundation’s independent photo gallery operates at a proprietary location on Mikszáth Kálmán tér and brings together photo and video based projects and events. The exhibitions alternate in one-month turns, and for the most part present the works of young artists and groups from Hungary and abroad, who find it difficult to get a chance to organize individual shows. The gallery’s program prioritises works that are context-sensitive and open for dialogue. Accordingly, we tend to invite artists who sensitively reflect on the social aspects of art.
One of the main objectives of the Lumen Photography Foundation is to promote international trends in Hungary as well as to establish extensive collaboration with the many Hungarian and European partner organizations and artists.
The gallery is open not only to the professional audience. The location makes it possible to engage a wider public. It endeavors to create a forum for the most outbreaking works in photography and video art, also reaching people who are not frequent museum-visitors. A special feature of the gallery is that due to its location, spectators are not forced into the position of museum visitor in a classical sense, enabling them to enjoy the works of art in a laid-back atmosphere.
